Baby Love Reusable Food Pouches + Giveaway

I'm one that always questions what is in my prepackaged foods.  I like to cook from scratch.  If rather know exactly what is in my food.  The same goes for my baby's food.  I would much rather make baby food from scratch.  It's so easy to do.  The hardest part for me is finding a good storage container.

I was able to try out the Baby Love Reusable Food Pouches. They are an 8 pack of baby food storage bags, plus they come with extra lids.  They have a zip top and the little spout on the side that you can squeeze the puréed food through, or they can suck the food out of.

The food is so easy to make.  Tonight I used 3 over ripe bananas, a sweet potato, and half of a butternut squash.

I cut the butternut squash in half and flipped it upside down on a baking sheet.  I also poked my sweet potato and put it on the baking sheet.  I baked them at 375° for an hour.

Once everything is ready and cooled down I get my food processor out.  Yes, I could do this by hand, but I prefer a better purée.

I started with the bananas.  I added about 1/2 cup of filtered water.  Then filled the baby food pouch.  Be sure to not overfill it like I did.  I had to scoop some out so I could close it.

There is a 3, 5, and 7oz line on the side. Don't go past the 7oz line if you want it to close without a mess.

After I filled one pouch with banana, I added sweet potato to the banana mixture to make 2 pouches of banana sweet potato purée.  Then I puréed one of the halves of the butternut squash (adding water to thin it out) which made 3 pouches.

There is a space on the back to write the flavor and the date on the pouch.  I labeled each one.  Then I out the banana and 1 of the banana sweet potato pouches in the refrigerator for baby Z to eat.  Then I put the other 4 in the freezer for later.

I love how they are freezer safe (make sure you don't overfill or it can burst open or break the pouch.  Just put the bag in warm water to thaw. Don't microwave the pouch.  It's also dishwasher safe (top rack is probably best), so cleanup is easy.

One thing you might want to invest in is a tiny bristle brush to clean the nozzle good.

To avoid the possibility of mold, you might consider an occasional vinegar (or bleach) water rinse and then leaving them open to air dry completely before putting away.  It's always a good safety measure with any food storage product.
