My questions for you about healthy choices

Today my baby Mila turns 4 months old.  As I watch her grow bigger, I have found myself slowly getting back into shape.

I have been working on my exercise routine.  Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday are my husband and my running days.  We start week 4 of C25K tomorrow.  I am using the Jawzrsize daily.  I will be restarting the Simply Fit Board and exercise program again soon.  I already have a 4 mile run scheduled for the end of April.

I am also working on healthier eating.  Since most of my meals are home cooked, it is up to me to make sure they are good for our bodies.  I will admit that some days are better than others. Some days we eat sushi, baked veggies, chickpea salad, soups with homemade bone broth, or a healthy stir fry. Some days, like tonight, are fried pick tenderloin sandwiches.  It's a work in progress.  I have cut almost all soda, but still have my sweetened creamed coffee daily.  However, I'm doing good with my water intake, mostly to keep up with my nursing little one.  I also have to keep up my calorie intake over 2,000 a day for nursing.  So healthy fatty foods like avocado and salmon are always a good choice.

So, here are my questions.

What is your tip to get back in shape?
What have you done to keep healthy?
What little changes do you make on your life?
What are your healthy, go to snacks?

  1. I don't eat healthy. Like AT ALL. I do workout, though, so I figure it cancels my bad eating habits out.

  2. Glad you are working on the reduction of sodas. I also have been mindful of that and now only have 1 a week. Yay! Its always a work in progress, so stay focused with it!

  3. I eat healthy least 80% of the time. But I do love my soda a couple times a week and of course my starbucks sweeten tea. I am not good at working out.

  4. The only tip I have is...patience. Don't expect to be able to do a 30 minute run right off the bat or to lose 5 pounds in one month, start off slow and expect nothing - this will help you not feel defeated if you don't happen to hit your goals as you want. It will happen eventually, just be patient.

  5. Hmmm, I used to workout 5 days a week and track all my food...then I got to my goal weight, and stopped working out so much...the weight crept up after that...and I just didn't get back on track. Totally track your food! That is my biggest advice!

  7. I don't really eat healthy tbh. I try to eat in little portions and not often. I also workout constantly. I wish I was better at being healthy but it isn't easy when you don't cook.

  11. meal prep is an essential for us, helps us make healthy choices and always have decent food on hand. I also tend to try and workout 3-4 times per week, helps to give me a bit more food flexibility.

  12. One thing that helps me get healthy is having my family's support. When we walk together and eat right together, I do much better.

  13. It's nice to see that you're following through with your fitness plan. It's always important to have a plan to help keep you on track. I usually just make sure that I exercise regularly and to always eat healthy. I don't eat fast food and I like preparing my own meals.

  14. As far as healthy snacks, I love having fruit on hand. I clean and chop it and keep it in containers so it is good to go when I have a craving.

  17. I have to be honest, right now I am FAR from healthy. I am in a really bad place right now with my weight. Thank you for these questions and to the readers for the answers!

  18. I try to eat a 80/20 diet. Which means I splurge a bit on the weekends. But that makes it hard when I try to get back on track come Monday.

  19. I follow the 80-20 rule too as mostly on the weekends we tend to eat out or attend a party. I write a health food blog so I am mostly not surrounded by unhealthy options anyways :)

  21. Most of my answers to these questions would not be helpful to you at all. There is one that might do you some good though. One thing that my husband and I have really found to be a good and nutritious snack are baby carrots. We love them, and they are not that expensive either.

  23. I do not drinks sodas. I drink water throughout the day and once in a while I will drink a fruit juice, like cranberry juice or grapefruit juice. Plus I limit my carbs too. I try not to eat too much breads, pastas and rice. It is hard but helps me maintain my weight.

  24. I've tried to switch to a more plant based diet. But I also allow myself some indulgences. Everything in moderation they say. I also find that if I just have the thing I'm craving I wouldn't go looking for a million other things as a substitute.

  25. To keep myself healthy I try to workout five times a week. As far as snacks go, my favorite is an apple with peanut butter.

  26. A few ideas: Ditch the sugar in the coffee and cream. Try 1% or 2% milk. You will adjust in a week or two. Try Zing stevia. Check out fitnessblender.com videos...hundreds free and they will cardio uounip, shape the booty and tighten abs. I wish they were around 13 years ago after my pregnancy. They have great full length videos on YouTube that inspire even if you add in one or two a week.
